What is a grade limit?
A grade limit is the lowest score that earns a given grade. For example, the L limit of 90 in Mathematics, advanced syllabus, autumn 2023, means 90 points out of 120 were enough for laudatur.
Why do the limits vary between sessions?
The Matriculation Examination Board (YTL) sets the limits separately for each session from the candidates' score distribution (the SYK method), so a harder paper produces lower limits.
